TVS – Improving Life Chances Through Education

Tyume Valley Schools (TVS) is an independent charity working to improve the quality of education and life chances of children and young people in the remote and impoverished Tyume Valley, Eastern Cape Province, South Africa. The area still carries many legacies of the former Apartheid era in the form of major social and economic inequalities..

MISSION

Our mission is to contribute to United Nations Strategic Development Goal 4 for Education and change children’s lives. We provide quality education and training for teachers and learners focussing on:

  • Improving children’s ability to read, write, speak, and understand English language.
  • Improving children’s mathematical understanding and abilities
  • Introducing children to basic IT skills and vocabulary.
  • Involving local teachers, schools principles and community members.
  • Promoting links between Tyume Valley schools and the wider world.
