Tyume Valley Schools (TVS) is an independent, UK-registered charity working with primary and secondary school teachers and learners in a remote rural area of Eastern Cape Province, South Africa.
TVS works in partnership with Eastern Cape Province Education Department.
We raise funds from charitable trusts and supporters in the UK and South Africa so that we can:
Provide IT teaching to over 300 primary and secondary school children during 2017.
Run a 3-year out-of-school English language programme: during 2017. 4 schools, 50 children and 11 teachers were involved
Run residential study camps for 100 primary school children and 25 school leavers each year
Support partnerships between UK and Tyume Valley schools
Work closely with local and district organisations to ensure local involvement and long-term sustainability.
Over the past 15 years, more than 5,000 children have benefitted from TVS's activities.
The Big Give Christmas Challenge!
Each year we need at least £50,000 so that we can provide IT teaching, run our after-school English Language programme and treat children to a residential study camp at an exciting Outdoor Education Centre.
An important part of our income is raised through the Big Give Christmas Challenge, a massive matched-funding event that raises thousands of pounds annually for chosen charities.
Last year our supporters contributed an amazing £11,600 which was then added to by Gift Aid and matched by our wonderful sponsor, the Coles-Medlock Foundation.
This year we are aiming to achieve the same amount, with the money going towards our new reading project.
Please do help if you can!
The Challenge takes place between December 3rd and 10th 2019.
You can contribute by clicking here.
This will go active immediately before the Challenge begins.
Please remember that you should donate between December 3rd -10th - otherwise it will not be matched!
