Every donation makes a meaningful difference in a child’s education journey
In South Africa’s rural Tyume Valley, many children face steep obstacles to learning. Their schools often lack basics like electricity, internet, or modern teaching resources. The Amathole West district – where Tyume is located – is one of the most educationally disadvantaged regions in the country.
Poverty, limited infrastructure, and the legacy of apartheid all contribute to poor educational outcomes. Many learners struggle without enough trained teachers or access to engaging, up-to-date resources.
How you can help
For just £27, you can support one child through our Fresh Start programme – providing them with trained classroom support, as well covering the cost of laptops, projectors, whiteboards and other vital teaching materials.
£27 per child covers:
- Reading Ambassadors programme
- Laptop, projectors, whiteboards and cables
- Other teaching materials

Support our work
Whether it’s a one-time gift or a recurring donation, your support makes a direct, measurable difference in a child’s life. Even, for example, any spare/disused tech equipment like Chromebooks, Laptops, or tablet devices, based on MS Windows, are valuable. In contrast to the oversupply elsewhere, teaching often stops in Tyume due to missing, lost or insufficient basic equipment. Even transport to and from the schools is often challenging – we are thrilled that it has been possible to have our own TVS vehicle on the ground in 2025.
Ways to donate:
- Use our secure online donation tool
- Give £27 to sponsor one child’s reading and learning journey

Partner With Us
At TVS, we believe that meaningful change in education happens through partnership. In addition to the incredible support we receive from individuals, we are actively seeking partnerships, whether from the corporate, philanthropic or private sectors – who share our belief in the power of education to transform lives.
Your expertise, influence, and investment can help strengthen and scale TVS’s work. Whether it’s training teachers, equipping classrooms with essential tools, or expanding access to quality learning, your support makes a lasting difference.
We understand that every partnership is unique. That’s why we work closely with each organisation to develop a shared approach that reflects your values, goals, and the needs of the communities we serve. If you’re interested in partnering with TVS, we’d love to start a conversation.
