Creating Links |
School Partnership Links The aim is to increase educational opportunities by helping participating schools, both in the UK and South Africa, to improve and develop themselves |
Personal Contact Teachers and students will be able to contact each other and find out, first hand about each others lives |
Bring the classroom alive Topics can really be brought alive for students of all ages when projects involve results of surveys and personal experiences of pupils in other countries. |
Partnership Schools— a creative link between the developed and developing world TVS has already linked up six UK primary schools and two secondary schools with Tyume schools as part of the new TVS Partnership Programme. The schools have embarked on curriculum-based partnerships and some have successfully applied for British Council grants for teacher and pupil exchanges. Partner schools undertake parallel and joint projects that contribute to the educational objectives of each school. Eventually we would like to find partners for all of our schools. |
Dodgy Clutch—Drama Link TVS has linked up with the Newcastle-based Education and Arts group, Dodgy Clutch, which is also working in the Eastern Cape. Dodgy Clutch has already scored a spectacular success with the show ‘Elephant’ and is now working with schools in the Tyume Valley. In April 2006 they put on a workshop for teachers and in September they will return to South Africa to stage a new performance at the Hogsback Festival. For more information on Dodgy Clutch visit their website www.dodgyclutch.com |

Teachers and community members are encouraged to join our volunteer visits to the Tyume Valley. Reciprocal visits are encouraged and funding could be available through the British Council Grants . Visit the Global Schools site for more information www.britishcouncil.org/globalschools-partnership-promote.htm There are many excellent sites with ideas for joint projects:- Global Schools Oxfam’s Cool Planet Learning Africa Eco-schools UK and South Africa BBC World Class |

Links With Other Organisations There are many organisations working to help the Developing World and we are forming links with them so that our projects can be completed as quickly and efficiently as possible. In particular we try and use resources which are already based or have links in South Africa. |
